July 2001

It's holidays, leading into the start of my third to last semester at Otago - maybe.

He's such a pretty face
But boy
He's got a head full of air
I picked him up
On a Saturday night
He had no car,
Neither did I, so we
Walked and we talked
And I soon realised, he was
Not too smart,
But I fell for his smile, so I

Took him home and
He sat in the chair
The conversation
Was going nowhere
And the lights were on
But nobody was there
And I heard myself saying
This ain't gonna work
We're too far apart,
We're from different worlds

I've got the brains
He's got the looks
He watches TV
I read my books
He's in the slow lane
But he don't care
He's such a pretty face
But boy
He's got a head full of air

Pretty face, head full of air
Pretty face, head full of air

He had no job so
I bought him a beer
Looking good seems
To be his career
And I don't know
Where we're gonna
Take it from here
He's just too busy,
Keeping in shape, so we

Had some fun, fooling around
We never talked of settling down
I guess rational thinking
Was thin on the ground
And he was saying
Maybe we could stay friends
I said leave
Those decisions to me

I've got the brains
He's got the looks
He watches TV
I read my books
He's in the slow lane
But he don't care
He's such a pretty face
But boy
He's got a head full of air

Pretty face, head full of air
Pretty face, head full of air
Pretty face, head full of air
I was saying, we'll be just fine
If you just leave the thinking to me

I've got the brains
He's got the looks
He watches TV
I read my books
He's in the slow lane
But he don't care
He's such a pretty face
But boy
He's got a head full of air

I've got the brains
He's got the looks
He watches TV
I read my books
He's in the slow lane
But he don't care
He's such a pretty face
But boy
He's got a head full of air

I've got the brains
He's got the looks
He watches TV
I read my books
He's in the slow lane
But he don't care
He's such a pretty face
But boy
He's got a head full of air

I've got the brains
He's got the looks

1st July 2001
On Friday I had lunch with my most recent ex, which was quite as tense and uncomfortable as it possible could have been had it REALLY tried. And I did some writting. And that was about it.
Yesterday I went to the Otago vs. Auckland Basketball game. It was pretty cool, though there was almost no audience. Actually, the high point was the Otago Coach getting foulled out of the building, after smashing a chair and bits of it going onto the court. I got just a tad weirded out by the amount of arse patting that was going on though.
Then I turned down Breffni (my cousin whom had taken me to the BBall, and who is a presenter on 4XO - which you should all listen to) on the offer to catch a movie, as I had Goth Bowling plans with my brain fire-trucked friends. And it seemed that none of them were going, so I eneded up just sitting home watching Star Trek and trying to decide what science paper I'm going to use to finish off my BSc. There are so many I like.
  • BIOA201 Introduction to Biological Anthropology - but that was in the first semester :o(
  • BIOL112 Biology of Animals - which looks quite promising
  • BIOL113 The Biology of Plants - which Amy didn't recommend, so maybe not
  • CHTE204 Dress ans Society - okay it'd be usless, but kinda funny
  • COMP101 Introduction to Information Tachnology - Boring as shite but a guaranteed pass
  • COMP103 Computer Programming - but I would have to take a test to be allowed in as I haven't done the prerequisite
  • EAOS111 Earth and Ocean Science - I really want to do this, but it was first semester :o(
  • GENE211 Molecular and Microbial Genetics - if I can fit it in, this is probably what I'll do
  • GEOL112 Dynamic Eath, a New Zealand Perspective - if it wasn't for the New Zealand perspective bit I'd be in like a flash
  • MICR201 Introduction to Microbiology: Microbes to Medicine - looks like a fair bit of fun, but only has one lab stream which I'm pretty sure clashes with some of my English classes.
  • PHAL202 Introduction to Pharmacology and Toxicology - it could be pretty cool, but I'd need to get special permission to do it
  • PHSI132 Fundamentals of Modern Physics - except it might be a little too much like CHEM301
  • PHSI251 Quanta and Uncertainty - except it was last semester :o(
  • PSYC112 Development and Social Psycology - could be a load of fun, and I think a couple of my friends are doing it.
  • WILM401 Principles of Wildlife Management - it is available to non-PGDipWLM students, and as far as I can tell I could probably get in, and it'd be fun. though probably wouldn't ever help me much
  • ZOO312 Parasitology - looks fun and I've done all I have to to get in - but I suspect it's lab stream will clash with English classes

Those are about it I think. I'm a tad annoyed a few of the ones I really would like to do were last semester, but there are still a fair few to choose from which I wouldn't mind doing.
Today I've sat on my arse downloading happy hardcore off the net. Oh well, I'm a slacker. ATM some random chick is offering to be my lady. Net chicks scare me, she's never met me yet offers herself - that's just WRONG. I've always thought having met someone should come before the wedding - though certain eastern cultures view that sort of thing differently.
Anyways, I'm outta here.
Today's song quote - 'Airhead' by Girls@Play.

Who Doesn't Know What I'm Talking About
Who's Never Left Home, Who's Never Struck Out
To Find A Dream And A Life Of Their Own
A Place In The Clouds, A Foundation Of Stone

Many Precede And Many Will Follow
A Young Girl's Dream No Longer Hollow
It Takes The Shape Of A Place Out West
But What It Holds For Her, She Hasn't Yet Guessed

Chorus:
She Needs Wide Open Spaces
Room To Make Her Big Mistakes
She Needs New Faces
She Knows The High Stakes

She Traveled This Road As A Child
Wide Eyed And Grinning, She Never Tired
But Now She Won't Be Coming Back With The Rest
If These Are Life's Lessons, She'll Take This Test

Repeat Chorus
She Knows The High Stakes

As Her Folks Drive Away, Her Dad Yells, "Check The Oil!"
Mom Stares Out The Window And Says, "I'm Leaving My Girl"
She Says, It Didn't Seem Like That Long Ago
When She Stood There And Let Her Own Folks Know

Repeat Chorus
She Knows The High Stakes
She Knows The High Stakes
She Knows The High Stakes
She Knows The High Stakes

5th July 2001
Well, I sat down on Sunday night and worked out my time table, to discover that the English papers were stupidly placed. So the only papers from the list that fitted were BIOL112 and PSYC112, so I decided I'd go with the BIOL.
Monday I babysat Andrew - well, hid in my room reading Paul McAuley's The Secret of Life, which is making a tad too much sense for a Paul McAuley, and I keep waiting for it to go all screwy, and it isn't. Other than failing to live upto my random expectations, it's proving to be a DAMN good read. I have to make the worm read it, so she can tell me how plausible it is.
Tuesday I babysit slightly better, I was in the house, keeping the fire burning and using the 'puter (to put my exam result on my exam results page) while the worm and Andrew watched Shrek on video CD. I'm still avoiding it so I can see it on the big screen. In the evening I went to see The Otago Area Gang Show. Well, that was a waste of a couple of hours of my life. Admitted the worm screwing up made it kinda fun, and my brother looking like murder. But on the whole I wouldn't inflict it on anyone I liked. After it I went to met up with friends at Arc, but I was late and they had already left, So I had a drink with my best friend's girlfriend and his sister. On the walk home I met up with the friends who'd abandoned Arc.
Yesterday. I spent the day trying to get my course worked out at Student Records. Eventually they declared I had only to pick up one 6 point science paper at any level to be a finalist in Chem. Wasting a whole day proving what I already knew. In the evening I went to a party at my neighbours. It was a nice evening, except for a short frighteningly passionate arguement about whether all school children should have to learn Maori - I personally think they should, I wish I'd been made to learn it when I was young, and the fact I drank too much coke and felt sick didn't really help.
This morning I dashed into Varsity first thing and got my course approved. I am now officially a finalist in Chemistry. So long as I pass BIOL112 I'll have a BSc come end of the year.
Then I came home to babysit. And did for a while, until Andy went to a friends place, and I got the afternoon to relax and watch Dragonball Z.
Anyway, I'm off to curl up in bed, read some more of my book and watch Powder which is playing on TV. Later.
Today's song quote - 'Wide Open Spaces' by The Dixie Chicks.

Maryanne and Wanda were the best of friends, all through their highschool days
both members of the four H club, both active in the FFA
After graduation Maryanne went out, looking for a bright new world
Wanda looked all around this town, and all she found was Earl
Well it wasn't 2 weeks after she got married that Wanda started getting abused
She put on dark glasses, and long sleeved blouses, and makeup to cover her bruise
Well she finally got the nerve to file for divorce, she let the law take it from there
But Earl walked right through that restraining order, and put her in intensive care
Right away Maryanne flew in from atlanta on a red eye, midnight flight
She held Wanda's hand, and they worked out a plan, and it didn't take them long to dicide

That Earl had to die...

Goodbye Earl
Those black eyed peas, they tasted alright to me, Earl
You feelin' week? Why don't you lay down and sleep, Earl
Aint it dark, wrapped up in that tarp, Earl?

The cops came by to bring earl in, they searched the house high and low
Then they tipped thier hats and said thank you ladies, if you hear from him, let us know
well, the weeks went by and spring turned to summer and summer faded into the fall
and it turns out he was a missin person who nobody missed at all
so the girls bought some land at a road side stand, down on highway 109
they sell tennesee ham and strawberry jam, and they don't lose any sleep at night

Cause Earl had to die...

Goodbye Earl
We need a break...
Lets go out to the lake Earl
We'll pack a lunch, and stuff you in the trunk, Earl
Is that alright? Good! Lets go for a ride, Earl. Hey!

Well, hey hey hey!
Aww hey hey hey!
Well, hey hey hey

10th July 2001
Ummm, when did I last write? Hmmmmmmmmm.
Okay, it was thursday night. So, Friday, I babysat. I finished Paul McAuley's The Secret of Life and it had a weird ending, but one that fitted into the logical progression - I feel ripped off. It is a DAMN good read though, so I'll recommend it to everyone who likes Sci-Fi or is interested in the old GM debate. In the evening I went into town to buy a pressy for the worm. So spent a few hours wandering aimlessly about town and eventually got some toy fishes and plastic flowers. The perfect floral gift for a strange lil southlander.
Saturday I curled up in bed until about lunch time, before wasting the day doing sweet bugger all. In the evening Hayley and Emaa dragged my out onto the town. Where I ended up dringing vast quantities of two-for-one Pheonix Cola and giving myself at first a great buzz, and eventually a REALLY nasty headache. Actually, with the fact I was groping at fences and looking drunk the whole walk home, it probably counts as a migraine.
Sunday, ummmmm, pulling a total blank. I think I may have just sat around on my arse playing Alpha Centauri. It's so much fun when you find a computer game you'd be playing lots years ago but completely forgotten you'd had.
Yesterday classes started. For some sick reason I'm really liking having classes again, as sad as that sounds. Before I went to my first class Sarelle came round to my place to borrow "boy clothes", and then we walked into varsity together. I got to my first lecture thinking I would know nobody at all. But my uncle's wife's sister is in the class, as is "Abel's" Tash - who is also one of my ex's best friends - whom I sat with for the lecture (and again in today's). Then after a four hour break between classes, which I'm pretty sure will get to be annoying, that I spent hanging out with Becky catching up after having not seen her in about a week and a half, I had Medieval Lit II. Medieval Lit is great, the lecturer is possibly insane and one of the best lecturers I've ever had. And the Midget is in the class.
Today, I got up at 6am and watched the Drew Barrymore movie Bad Girls, a great way to start the day. Then headed off to my 9am Shakespeare lecture. The eyecandy who was supposed to have been in the paper has pulled out :o(. Anyway, I have to reread King Lear in the next week or so. Joy for me. Atleast a few of my friends are inthe class. My Contemporary Poetry class was LONG, but kind interesting, I was just ever so slightly falling asleep. While killing time before Medieval I had lunch with Simon, and then found Tina to sweet talk a couple of textbooks out of her. AFter Medieval I came home and played some more Alpha Centauri.
Anyway, I should go sleep, I have a first year biology lab at 9am tomorrow morning. I'm so not looking forward to my first first-year lab since 1998. Well, anyway, night.
Today's song quote - 'Goodbye Earl' by The Dixie Chicks.

I know too well that I'm just wasting precious time
In thinking such a thing could be
That you could ever care for me
I'm sure you hate to hear
That I adore you, dear
But grant me
Just the same
I'm not entirely to blame
For love
You'd be so easy to love
So easy to idolize
All others above
So worth the yearning for
So swell to keep every homefire burning for
We'd be so grand at the game
So carefree together
That it does seem a shame
That you can't see
Your future with me
'Cause you'd be oh, so easy to love

11th July 2001
Today. I woke and within five minutes was sick of Damian on 4XOs breakfast show, so I watched Ladyhawke. It is kinda freaky seeing Matthew Broderick and Michelle Pfiefer looking that young. Then I went off to my lab. Watching what crayfish get upto in the dark. Fun fun fun fun. Though there was a little eye candy in the class, though all first year, so I'm a dirty old man. Then I came home and went to show Claire how to use Excel, but we didn't do much work before heading off to Medieval.
I actually rang a flat this evening, but got the answer phone so hung up. I should go ring again. I guess. Though I'm scared of talking to strangers on the phone.
I have to ring Tina too though, so maybe I should go offline. Tina said she would go to Shrek with me :o).
Today's song quote - Cole Porter's 'Easy to Love' as sung by Billie Holliday.

My baby don't care for shows
My baby don't care for clothes
My baby just cares for me
My baby don't care for cars and races
My baby don't care for high-tone places

Liz Taylor is not his style
And even Lana Turner's smile
Is somethin' he can't see
My baby don't care who knows
My baby just cares for me

Baby, my baby don't care for shows
And he don't even care for clothes
He cares for me
My baby don't care
For cars and races
My baby don't care for
He don't care for high-tone places

Liz Taylor is not his style
And even Liberace's smile
Is something he can't see
Is something he can't see
I wonder what's wrong with baby
My baby just cares for
My baby just cares for
My baby just cares for me

12th July 2001
Today, I started by getting heavily rained on on the way too Shakespeare. The class was okay, and after it I did the readings for Contemporary Poetry. Then BIOL112 where I seriously checked out someone from my lab, and Contemporary Poetry where I sat chatting with Elizabeth.
Today's song quote - 'My Baby just cares for Me' by Nina Simone.

A day called zero,
Is the day we'll all relax,
Mountains will tumble,
With a long and heavy thump,
Dust spreads on the sky,
So the sun will grow pale,
Oil tanks tear open,
And the city livens up.

A day called zero

A day called zero,
Will be such a busy day,
Whistling marches,
I'll hoover my past away,
Controlling a bulldozer,
I will improve my town,
Stacking concrete slabs,
Me and you my pluto.

A day called zero

Will you be with me on that day?,
We'll be watching and smiling,
At last it's over,
Nothing stops us now,
Come and enter,
Me let's multiply,
On a day called zero.

A day called zero

13th July 2001 - Black Friday - Mwahahahaa!
Okay, yesterday ended short, I got tired and gave up typin'. So to finish, after Contemporary I stuffed around a it then went to the union to sit and read a whack of Toilus and Criseyde, and only got mildly lost. Then after Medieval I came home, watch Dragonball Z, had tea and went to Becky's, where I sat on the porch for ages chatting to Raj, before going to The Robbie with Becky and Kez. Where I spend a couple of hours pretending to be social, but really just getting very bored before bumming a ride home off nice Peter and writing yesterday's half-arsed entry.
Well, it's stll early and I'm just out of the shower now, so I ain't got all that much to say about today yet. I might write something later today, or not.
Today's song quote - 'A day called zero' by Sugarcubes.

Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to all on that day?

Run to the moon, "Moon won't you hide me?"
Run to the sea, "Sea won't you hide me?"
Run to the sun, "Sun won't you hide me all on that day?"

Lord says, "Sinner man, the moon'll be a bleeding."
Lord says, "Sinner man, the sea'll be a sinking."
Lord says, "Sinner man, the sun'll be a freezin' all on that day!"

Run to the Lord, "Lord won't you hide me?"
Run to the Lord, "Lord won't you hide me?"
Run, run, "Lord won't you hide me all on that day?"

Lord says "Sinner man, you should've been a praying."
Lord says "Sinner man, you should've been a praying."
Lord says "Sinner man, you should've been a praying all on that day."

17th July 2001
Friday night my ex turned up and wouldn't leave. I wasn't even being vaguely subtle. Talk about not taking a hint. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!
Saturday morning I installed Black and White, and that was almost all of Saturday gone. It was 7:30 in the evening before I realised lunch time was passed. And I somehow managed to forget to eat all day, I thought I had had lunch, but it turned out I hadn't. It was only the next day I realised I'd eaten nothing all day. In the evening I met up with the lil black boy, who was trying to get me drunk, had a long chat and munted his finger. The finger was a total accident, and I'm pretty sure it'll heal, anyway he seems to have forgiven me. Then we headed off to Feul for a boogie. It turned out to be a good night. the lil black boy pined over his ex, and then met someone else - with whom I can but hope something happens. The lil black boy needs some action. My ex was drunk as a skunk and failing to flirt with a few guys - rather funny to watch. And I got in a lil trouble for groping chick's arses. I got home at 5:30 in the morning, slept for four hours and then spent almost the whole day playing Black and White.
Monday (Yesterday), I played Black and White all morning and then headed off to varsity. Between classes I snuck home and played some more Black and White. And guess what I did in the evening. I'm kinda peeved that Sar-Marie didn't win Big Brother, but I'm damn glad Blair lost. And I finally talk to someone about a room in a flat and will be going tomorrow to have a look see.
Today I got up and played some you know what. I'm not an addict really. And actually got to my 9am lecture on time even afer walking with this weird chick called Amy whose in the class. Dern Southlanders. Between classes I rushed reading and still didn't get anywhere close to where I should be. I came home and played me some more Black and White. Okay, maybe I am addicted.
Well, tomorrow I'm going to Shrek after my Biol112 lab. And about time too, I've been wanting to see it for AGES, and finally Tina agreed to go with me :o). And then she got organised and told me the time and place.
Tina is great.
Anyways, I'm off.
Today's song quote - 'Sinnerman' by Nina Simone.

If you ever get close to a human
And human behaviour
Be ready to get confused
There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
To human behaviour
But yet so, yet so irresistible
And there's no map
They're terribly moody
And human behaviour
Then all of a sudden turn happy
But, oh, to get involved in the exchange
Of human emotions is ever so, ever so satisfying
Oh oh, and there's no map
Human behaviour, human
Human, human behaviour, human
Human, human behaviour, human
Human behaviour, human
And there's no map
And a compass
Wouldn't help at all
Human behaviour, human, human
Human behaviour, human,
Human behaviour, human,
Human behaviour
There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
Human, human
Human behaviour
Human.
There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
Human, human, human, human

23rd July 2001
Shrek was GREAT. Even if Tina got me really paranoid by being about 3 minutes late. It was just plain funny. The lab I'd had before it had finished early - and my lab partner is also ex-Logan Parker. Then I had mornin' tea with Susan so ended up running late once more.
Thursday was pretty thursdayish. Nine till two without a break, and then two hours (in which I had lunch with Elizabeth and did a WHOLE PILE of Chaucer reading) then class again till 5.
Friday I curled up in bed with Theif of Time by Terry Pratchett, and didn't get up till one, so had to go to the later BIOL112 class, mine having been at 11. Then after classes I went shopping and found a fun if pointless gift for Oliver. A pullback lego car. Cost a touch more than I was planning to spend, but he's my best friend, so it's kinda expected.
Saturday I mostly finished of the novel between cartoon shows, then showered and packed and headed off to Oliver's birthday party. The meal at Little India was great, and I actually found myself quite able to eat the hot variety I stole of Tash(anaaron), in fact hers was nicer than the medium butter chicken I'd got. But then I'm a spicy fiend. Then it was back to Oli's for cake and to orgnise transport. Then off to Oturehua for a weekend of fun and frivolity. And very little sleep. Saturday night was fun, we just sat around eatin', singin' and chatting about whatever came to mind. Then I tried to get some sleep, but the room I was in had a very load snorer, so I swapped rooms with Bridget whom didn't seem so worried by the little chainsaw.
Eventually I slept in the lounge not too far from the embery fire. In the morning we woke a little after ten, but it took until about 12 before everyone was out of bed and breakfast was served. Then we headed off and played on the lake. Oli's boarder Jared was the only one to fail on the first attempt to mount the ice.
I had to go to Varsity, but now I'm back. Where was I. The frozen lake was great. We played frisbe on it. As you do. It was great. Then after going to look at the ice on the dam, and standing on the side of a truck getting our legs ripped up by prickle bushes, we walked back to the house along the rail trail. We got back to the house and Jared got into my pants. Though not in the dodgy way. Being he was the only one to go over and land in the little bit of water that survived at the edges of the lake, I lent him my spare trousers so he wouldn't be damp on the ride home.
After tidying up and most of the other guys cutting loads of firewood, and me having cut a smaller amount finding the job as DONKEYBOI, and carrying the lot inside. It was an epic mission, and shall someday be printed in three hundred pages of verse - or not. The ride home was pretty good though, with the van almost breaking down thrice, and going over through Middlemarch at a snails pace. Then at the Bunce household trying to get Jared to give my trousers back - now there was an effort. Well, not hugely, he just stuffed around for ages before giving them back. I was almost tempted to take them off him, but that would have looked pretty dodgy really. Anyway, I walked back from the Bunce's with my pack on my back looking like a freak. Then I curled up at home and watched the previous night's Star Trek which I had videoed.
Today, I slept in. It was great and I really needed it. Then into the house came, did a bit of this and went to varsity. Between classes I came home and watched Mickey Blue Eyes, read some Chaucer and went back to varsity for my medieval class.
Ergh, I have an essay due on Friday, and no idea what it is on, I should really get around to reading the sheet. It'd be best to not fail the semesters first major assessment, especially after failing my first minor one, by not doing it in time. I went to do the stupid online test and I was a day late, so missed out. Oh well, there's one percent I hope not to need.
Anyway, I should go.

25th July 2001
After spending Monday lusting after someone I didn't see, and who probably doesn't actually exist - my imagination is amazingly good at creating people so idealised they don't even look remotely like who they start off as. Tuesday came along and I dumped into all but one of those I had had crushes on during my first year. And the one I didn't see I'm pretty sure left town after first year. It was so random. A few "damn I wish that had happened"s and a few "what was I thinking"s. Pretty much random me-ness. I also impulse bought a pair of pants at the Hallenstein's sale and a $9.95 shirt, and took my dyke boots in to get fixed. Otherwise Tuesday was pretty uneventful, though I did decide I'm taking up having a evening jog. I had one last night as I was feeling hyper, and it was fun. So we'll see how it lasts. I need to do something to lose weight.
Today, I went to classes. Skipped out early on my lab. Watched The Truman Show, finally. Went to see Shef and got a puter program. Went to Medieval. Delivered a video to Becky and Shrek on VCD to Nina. Looked at a nice flat, dragged down by the presense of net geeks and a four year old ankle biter. I have to get a tape measure and measure stuff and go to that flat I went to last week and see if stuff will fit.
Anyway, I have sweet f all to say. So Later.
Today's quote from THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary - Bush might be doing something right.

Thursday was busy, I have classes most all the day. After my overly long run of classes I headed in to the Whitcoulls half price paper back sale and got me a pile of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Yay for on sale books.
Friday, I spent the morning writing an essay for ENGL319, and got in finished and handed in on time. Then between classes I went into the whorehouse and picked up a copy of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on DVD, since it was on sale. I also had a chat with an old friend of mine, Brendon, who I bump into sometimes but never really talk to him. Though he doesn't seem to have changed much.
In the evening I met up with Becky and Kez and got tickets for Final Fantasy, then I came home and made myself some tea before returning to town, and Becky's place, to met up with them and go see the movie. It was GREAT. The dialouge was dodgily Squaresoft. The plot largely taken from FF7. The special affects amazing. The characters looked real enough you could almost forget they were animated. Except for their mouths, which moved too gently. And their hands were always clean. Afterward Sarelle dropped me home, and I slept.
today, i lay in bed watched cartoon, and my new DVD. Got up, did laundry. And am now watching a doco on Franco Zepherelli (?spelling?), whom some of you may know from having seen Tea with Mousillini which was based on his childhood, or from his directorial fame, having made the Liz Taylor Taming of the Shrew and the Mel Gibson Hamlet. It's kinda cool. Anyway, I'm a rambling. SO bye.
Today's song quote: "Sex Bomb" by Tom Jones.
The tax man's taken all my dough,
And left me in my stately home,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
And I can't sail my yacht,
He's taken everything I've got,
All I've got's this sunny afternoon.

Save me, save me, save me from this squeeze.
I got a big fat mama trying to break me.
And I love to live so pleasantly,
Live this life of luxury,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime

My girlfriend's run off with my car,
And gone back to her ma and pa,
Telling tales of drunkenness and cruelty.
Now I'm sitting here,
Sipping at my ice cold beer,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.

Help me, help me, help me sail away,
Well give me two good reasons why I oughta stay.
'Cause I love to live so pleasantly,
Live this life of luxury,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime

Ah, save me, save me, save me from this squeeze.
I got a big fat mama trying to break me.
And I love to live so pleasantly,
Live this life of luxury,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime

Well, tis Monday.
Yesterday I did a bit of the readings for Medieval Lit 2. And got about 10 stanzas in all day. Otherwise I just stuffed about, watching telly, and helping to install a wall cabinet above the family computer. Then last night I had a shorter than usual constinutional, coz it was so cold and the cold was doing bad things to my lungs.
Went into classes today and had a really freaky lecture. About certain primative phylum. Especially parasitic worms. I left the lecture REALLY wanting to take a worming tablet. Then after Hare Krshna lunch, I went to the library and read 130 stanzas of Troilus and Criseyde. Then off to Medieval and actually able to make intelligent comments - Yay for catching uo with the readings. For once I didn't look like a retard. Then after organising a film festival thing for tomorrow, I was off home.
Damn, I forgot to write about Saturday night. And I'm too tired now.
Today's song quote: "Sunny Afternoon" by Kinks.
My Gift is my song and this ones for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if there green or there blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

Okay, I randomly went to bed half way through the entry I was writing last night. I was really tired. And ended up having a constitutional this morning instead of last night. Actually, I didn't sleep very well last night. Flashbacks from that darn animal biology lecture on parasitic worms *shudders*. Combined with the dog being annoyingly loud.
Today things were pretty much normal. I went to my classes which were mostly good, and to one of Tina's, which sucked giant rocks through a tiny straw. And now I'm getting ready for tea then heading in to the film festival. YAY for german movies.
Wait, I was supposed to write what I did on Saturday night. Well, it wasn't that much. I backed up the Maynard's puter onto a zip disk. Then went into town to have tea with Reece - who was about half an hour late - and we kept having ppl thing we were "friends" as apposed to friends. Which was really rather funny. And then it was off to Raj's to watch DVDs. Dogma is great and was one of the DVDs we watched. Admittedly I'd seen it before, but it's SO funny. And after Reece went off to a party I sat and had a overly long and depressing chat to Raj. Yipee.
I have since heard rumour that Reece and my ex had a date on Friday, though I'd have thought Reece would have told me. I shall have to ask and see if there is any truth to it.
Today's song quote: "Your Song" by Elton John but rehashed for Moulin Rouge.
